Bethany Lutheran College is a Christian liberal arts college owned and operated by the Evangelical Lutheran Synod and engaged in the teachings of the Bible as expressed in statements of faith known as the Lutheran Confessions.

Our mission

Bethany Lutheran College offers Christian higher education in a stimulating academic environment where personal mentoring guides students to seek knowledge, truth and insight for productive and fulfilling lives.

Our goal

Bethany Lutheran College engages students with the saving knowledge of Christ and helps them develop their God-given talents and abilities for a meaningful life of service in family, church, and society. A liberal arts-based curriculum taught through the insightful prism of a Christian worldview equips students with adaptable knowledge, understanding, and skills.

Institutional objectives

After graduating, a student from Bethany Lutheran College:

  1. Recognize that historic Christian faith professes that God the Holy Trinity is the source of all knowledge and truth, and that His wisdom is most clearly revealed in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
  2. Demonstrate intellectual, creative and problem-solving skills.
  3. Demonstrate an understanding of personal and public responsibility.
  4. Develop thinking habits that apply to a fulfilling learning life.

Statement on admission, enrollment and student life at Bethany

As stated in our mission and vision statements, Bethany Lutheran College expects our students to understand that we are a Christian college and educational arm of the Evangelical Lutheran Synod that supports the teachings of the Bible as expressed in statements of faith known as Lutheran. Confession. We therefore ask each student to respect the legal and religious rights of the College to teach and operate according to the beliefs of the Synod, even if the student has different or contrary beliefs.

In cases where a student challenges or denigrates the teachings, operations, or beliefs of the College in a way that disrupts an atmosphere of teaching, learning, or Christian living, the College will work with the student in a manner respectful and loving to respond to the concerns of the student in accordance with the precepts of Scripture and our Confessions. If a student persists in challenging or denigrating the teachings of the Synod, the College reserves the right to advise the student to continue their studies elsewhere. In extreme situations, the College may terminate enrollment at Bethany.
