A Florida high school offered refunds after parents found out the school had digitally altered dozens of photos of college girls to make them look “more modest,” according to reports.
Bartram Trail High School near Jacksonville was outraged when it emerged that the directory coordinator had edited about 80 photos of students without their knowledge or permission.
Students say the changes were unnecessary or unfair.
“They looked at our bodies and said a little bit of skin was sexual, but then they looked at the boys for the swim team photos and other photos and thought it was good. is really upsetting and uncomfortable, ”Riley O’Keefe, a freshman, told Action News Jax.

Elizabeth McCurdy said she was “appalled” when she found out her photo was also censored.
The school claimed it had previously excluded photos of students it considered a violation of the student code of conduct, and it relied on digital manipulation “to ensure that all students were included in the directory “.

“I think it sends the message that our daughters should be ashamed of their growing bodies, and I think it’s a horrible message to send to these young girls going through these changes,” Adrian Bartlett, mother of a school student, Recount The Saint-Augustin record.
Another parent said her daughter had worn her outfit to school several times without being violated. Some parents accused the school of having a stricter policy for girls than boys, but the closest photo to a potentially problematic photo was of the boys’ swim team.

The school maintains that no club or team photos have been altered.
The school website says, “All images in advertisements and all student photos must adhere to the St. Johns County School District Student Code of Conduct or may be digitally adjusted. ”
