• Watch your portions
Your meal intake is very important when you are on a diet. The amount of protein you eat shouldn’t be half of the plate. Dr Mani says that when serving meals, half of your plate should be filled with vegetables and divide the protein, fat, and carbohydrate into the other half.
• Better nibble
The ever-present temptation to stare at the bottom of a packet of crisps, a pot of ice cream, and a bar of chocolate is hard to beat. However, in order for your diet to be effective, you need to tame your sweet tooth and choose healthier snacks. Most people think that means they should cut out the snacks altogether, but Dr Mani clarifies that you should only cut back rather than quitting snacks altogether.
• Let your body rest – don’t eat all day
According to Dr. Mani, you shouldn’t eat all day from morning to night as it robs your body of time to rest. It also means that your body produces insulin throughout the day. Eating an effective diet doesn’t mean fasting, but it doesn’t also mean that you eat from 7am to 11pm. It’s about striking a balance.
